TEACHER PROFILE: Samiah Hanna

Samiah Hanna has been teaching since 2010,
Samiah (or Hanna as she is known) aims to provide all learners with a positive learning experience.

I am a CELTA qualified ESOL teacher (Cambridge) with over 12 years teaching experience. I ran my own successful Private Tuition Centre for 12 years, which involved teaching small groups and students on a one-to-one basis.

I enjoy helping others and am keen to utilise my skills to empower students by teaching them how to succeed in an English-speaking environment. I have an emphasis on student satisfaction, providing learners with a meaningful, positive experience and building trust and rapport.

After reverting to Islam in 1993, I found myself amongst a community struggling with the English language at a time when there were very few opportunities for adults to attend ESOL classes. I quickly established a good understanding of non-verbal communication and developed an awareness of cultural differences. I naturally became the ‘go to’ person when members of the community needed support with tasks involving written and spoken English. This has given me invaluable experience and an insight into the difficulties non-native speakers encounter on a daily basis.

I look forward to working with you.
