Director of Home English and ESOL & IELTS teacher

Hi there!

My name is Laura and I set up Home English in 2009.

I am a friendly and experienced English teacher, specifically qualified by the University of Cambridge to teach English as a second language (ESOL). In addition to having taught since 2009 (including specialist IELTS tuition), I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) – the most highly recognised qualification for English language teachers across the world.

I am also contracted by IDP (one of the IELTS partners) to develop learning materials for both IELTS teachers and candidates. These have included live webinars for teachers, a series of lesson plans for classroom teachers and pre-recorded masterclasses on each part of the test. As part of this project, I have also written a number of blog posts for students and numerous social media posts for their Instagram and Facebook pages.

I have a real passion for teaching and my patient and friendly approach lends itself perfectly to teaching English to adults. My varied experience includes teaching English as a Second Language to adults in Further Education colleges including Solihull College in the West Midlands and  Heart of England (HOW) College in Worcestershire.

I will bring some fun to every lesson – but will also ensure your English progresses as quickly as possible and your goals are achieved.
